Efficient Chicken Raising: Tips from ‘Cedar Hills Homestead’

Chickens eat flies and grubs and I like that as it helps reduce the Apple Maggot fly, Rhagoletis pomonella.

I found a video that spells out the raising of chickens very efficiently on ‘Cedar Hills Homestead’ site called Growing Grains and Hunting, and here is the 23 minute Youtube Film.

I found this thoroughly enlightening and inspiring. I’m no longer eating chickens or Pigs for the high linoleic acid, LA, content of their fat- probably due to the high seed oil content of commercially raised birds/hogs though I am eating about 4 eggs per day from our pastured 12 birds which are Leghorn crosses.
